The North Dublin Schoolboys/Girls League (NDSL) and the Dublin Women's Soccer League (DWSL) got together and discussed the possibility of organising 2 leagues to progress underage girls/women's football going forward as both leagues were chasing the same clubs, teams and players.
It has been agreed that the NDSL will run underage Girls football from the age of 7-17 and the new league will be called Metropolitan Girls League and the DWSL will run senior women's football and this will also be called the Metropolitan Senior Women's League.
Women's and Girls' Football has under gone remarkable development in the last couple of years. We hope we can do the same in relation to girls and women's football in Ireland. We believe that this is a positive step in relation to promoting underage and senior football in the Dublin Metropolitan and surrounding areas.
It is well known that all children should be coached at a very early age that is why we intend to have a very vibrant Academy and qualified coaches for our underage players. We also intend to run Futsal tournaments during the winter months. We have also asked the FAI to get involved in organising blitz for underage girls on both Northside and Southside of the Metropolitan area.
This integration will be a positive step forward and hopefully will benefit the international set up in years to come.
We hope you will embrace this new initiative and we look forward to speaking to you in the near future and competing at the highest level in football.
