NORTH DUBLIN VICTORY IN SCOTLAND
The NDSL Under 11 side did us all proud with three victories to ensure that the Celtic International Cup was coming back to Dublin. The tournament this year was hosted by Dumfries & Galloway Primary Schools FA at the ground of Scottish Football League club Annan Athletic FC. The Dublin boys opened the tournament with a great victory over their hosts by three goals to two. This was a hard fought encounter after going a goal down and a victory cherished by the Dubs over a much fancied Scottish side. The Isle of Mann produced a fine football performance in over coming the Belfast Primary Schools FA in the second game on Friday evening. The Dublin boys were up early on Saturday morning for the "Irish Derby" game against Belfast. This was a game of two halves. Belfast dominated the first but after a good defensive display and the game scoreless at the interval the NDSL side gradually took control and finished the stronger winning by the only goal of the game. Dumfries fresh from their defeat of the previous evening bounced back with a gallant victory over the Isle of Mann. The Dublin boys now had the cup in their sights and they knew that a victory in their final game over the Isle of Mann would ensure that the cup would be going back to Dublin. The boys in blue made sure of the third victory to clinch the cup when they produced arguable their best performance with a three goals to one victory over the Manx isle. It would be unfair to single out any individual player as each of the 18 players involved played their role in capturing the cup.
The 2011 Tournament is scheduled for next May in Dublin.
