NDSL STATEMENT

RE Coronavirus

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus these are very difficult and challenging times for all of us in the league, Directors, Fixture Secretaries and C.E. Staff.  But most importantly we feel for the children of the NDSL & MGL

These are very challenging times for all leagues and clubs and I refer to a recent statement issued by the FAI whereby they outlined a number of dates for training and leagues.  There appeared to be some ambiguities in their statement and I can now clarify that the NDSL season for 2019/2020 is finished and is now null and void and a new season will commence the weekend 5th/6th September in line with the children returning to school.  This has been agreed by the SFAI Executive on a recent conference call.

Training for players will commence no earlier than the 10th August.  Obviously this is subject to Government and HSE guidelines.  Going forward if we receive further information we will advise our clubs on a weekly/fortnightly basis.

We are extremely disappointed the Kennedy Cup has been cancelled and we feel very disappointed for the players who have trained and worked hard over the past 2 years to compete in this competition.

In relation to the MGL once again very challenging times for the girls league.  We are all aware we are the biggest league in the country it has also been decided that the 2019/2020 season is null and voice and the new season will commence the weekend 5th/6th September.  Also the Gaynor Cups are cancelledand this is extremely disappointing for all the coaches and players.

Our tentative return dates to commence the new 2020/2021 season is the weekend of the 5th/6th September 2020 for all age groups under our jurisdiction.  Dates re-registration and team formation will be advised in due course and we will naturally be subject to HSE and NPHET guidelines.  Prior to the tentative recommencement date, the league administrators will be working with all bodies to ensure a safe return to football when appropriate and liaise with clubs when applicable.

(All dates are subject to direction from the HSE and NPHET)

These are unprecedented times we are living in and so we ask all clubs to adhere to the guidelines set out by the HSE and the FAI and remember everybody’s safety is paramount despite our longing to return.  We will keep you updated as soon as information is available. – STAY SAFE
